Hi Hany,

I think the reason behind all this anger is being not appreciated , that's the key , I'm sure a person can definetely bear anything but this.

Seems that management here in Egypt as a whole needs dramatic change!

About ur decision , well ,first of all don't leave harf unless u find another place even if u don't like harf, cause i'm sure u won't like sitting at home doing nothing.
Plus , how will u guarantee that the place u'll go doesn't have disadvantages?? for example , i know someone who works for ITWorx , in the first month he was being treated like a king ,the whole env. was very relaxing and encourging , but now he hardly sleeps! he even works on firdays and saturdays, returns home around dawn , they work like hell ... so it's the case in all companies where they have deadlines to keep.

My opinion is , don't take any decision while u r angry , and the best thing to do is trying to adjust if u didn't find an alternative , it's only 5 months according to ur words and u'll be leaving them anyway...so try to enjoy it ba2a , it's only temporary .

El project management hena developers based, be ma3na enak lek Task X, design it, we 23melha kol 7aga from A to Z even suggest new features or suggest the removal of some features and see how much time it would take from you, then begin in it.

and even if you said it'll take let's say 10 hours, we 7asaletlak zerof fel nos, mesh bey2ololak eshta3'al ba2a 20 sa3a 3alashan te3awad wel habal dah, no, kamel 3ady 7'ales we law eshta3'alt el 20 sa3a dol hay2adarok gedan, bas at the same time law ma3amaltehomshy it's normal.

Hena bey3amlona be tare2a mesh momkena, ya3ni hadelak example, ta7'ayal keda en wa7ed we wa7da metgawezen ba2alhom 15 sana we haymoto yegebo 3ayel, fag2a geh, ta7'ayal ma3aya hay3amloh ezay?!!

We fo2 dah kolo, you needn't be in campus to do it, momken te3meleh min betko wenty 3al serer, momken even tesafry masr 2 weeks we te3meleh min henak law mafesh 7aga mo3ayana zay meetings masalan (ma3 en 7ata deh feh hena video conferencing) testad3y wegodek fel campus

Ahhh, neset 7aga kaman, mawdo3 el courses dah, hena el courses deh betet7eseb min ur working time, be ma3na, this week masalan feh courses le modet 20 sa3a, yeb2a work 20 sa3a bas, ma3 en el system aslan mesh based 3al hours bas ana asdi 2wada7 en el courses deh hena work.

I'm very sad to hear what you are saying :(,I thought Harf is a better place than Sakhr it seems they are all going to the same ending. The main problem these companies have is that their administration is separate from their employees and the developers don't have opinion in what they do. So it's not a place for creative thoughts that's something I suffered from a lot in Sakhr.Anyways,Hany I think you would find problems and troubles anywhere but what I'd like to say if you get angry too much and many times then you must leave the company because it is not good for your health, and I suggest looking for anywhere else to work for there is a lot of places where you would gain a lot of experience and thank god :) you already have a primary job @ MS, I mean everything from now till you travel is temporary.BTW at Sakhr when I was that annoyed from my manager I used to stay at home for a couple of days and when he asks I tell him I have no reason to come to work as it wastes my time and I surely would be looking for another job.Anyways take care ya Hany rabena ma3ak :)

if u noticed i was talking about companies in Egypt.

Concerning what u said about management in MS , well it's a hell of a difference between local companies and international ones..why am i not surprised ?? :) , so that proves the point , it's all about management , but sometimes , when an international company has a branch in Egypt they somehow apply egyptian management standards!!

They don't apply Egyptian way of management, but they get Egyptian managers, as it will be useless to make a branch here and bring the staff from outside Egypt

Mmmmm.... And what about source depot?? You're talking as if no one can trace the changes and find out the one who messed with the code and kick his @$$. What you're saying is actually giving a bad image of our company :(

Dear Hany,
I read the comments of Rain and Mohammed. I agree with Rain and want to add that you have an advantage. Thank God you know you are going to another place. You are not waiting for the unknown like others. You can face all situations with this idea in your mind: "I am not staying here". But I do not like that you leave especially if you are going to stay home as Rain said. Do what you can in the company and do not push yourself coz the company will do that for you. Be calm and cool as much as you can.
I admire all what Muhammed said about his place but I worked in many places in Egypt and outside and the world is not always rosy. There must be a problem or an annoying thing. This is life, we are not in heaven. His company may be perfect except that nothing is perfect but some places can be better than others. The problems of some places can be related to managament which is Kartha and the problems in other places can be related to work itself which is good and allows you to learn. Yet, there will always be problems. Do you think I am very motasha2ma? No, I am realistic.
As an employee in the company, in fact I am in the room next to you, I see how SHE treats everyone and how THEY take personal decisions in the company. I am sorry to say Harf was once better than Sakhr but khalas.
Anyway, the usual advice: Do not leave a place unless you have another or you have been humiliated beyond repair.
May Allah help you, guide you to the best and I hope to see your little children.

One of the biggest problem ever in Egypt that managers do care soo much about the amount of time spent on things more than how much things you did!!!

You know something, when I was working in Egypt, and my manager comes and tells me: "hey, you have this job to finish it this week", I finish it in 4 or 5 hours and make chatting or visit web sites in the rest of the week.

Because I know that there's nothing else to be done, and also I can't go home because everything is about how much hours you spent not how much work you did.

The most perfect thing in the west, that even in places which is 100% based on hours, they put in mind the question of how much work you did, and in case they can't offer you things to do, they give you paid vacation, not asking you to come and do nothing like in Egypt.

More than this, many places (one of them is MS), the work is task based, which proves its efficiency, as for me if iam a manager, all what i care to finish task X in Y time, I don't care if the developer finished it in Y/2 time, ot Y-1, or work at night or at day, because as long as I'll get my work done in the time i want, then he's free to do it in whatever the way he likes.

And when we were going to do our own business, we were gonna work in the same way, no specific time interval for work and no such things, task based is the best

Ohhh, I forget another thing, taks based is great, but not the Egyptian Management version of: "Please you have the task of making Multi-threading/Multi-process based OS Kernel during the next week"

I don't mean a task which keep you busy 24/7 hours, I mean normal ones and normak timing also.
